Sunshine Seafood Cafe now open for dinner

Sunshine Seafood Cafe now open for dinner

The Sunshine Seafood Cafe and Wine Bar has opened earlier than normal for 2009.

"Usually we wait until the week before Christmas, but because our regular customers are anxiously awaiting our opening, we decided to push it up and open Thursday, Nov. 5 for dinner only," said Sandy Stilwell, owner of the Sunshine Seafood Cafe and several other Captiva restaurants, including RC Otters and the Keylime Bistro.

The Sunshine Seafood Cafe will be closed on Mondays until Dec. 18.

"Beginning Dec. 18 we will be open for lunch and dinner seven days a week until June 1," Stilwell said.

Stilwell noted that most of the restaurant's regular staff, including general manager Nick Owens, will be returning, serving all of the favorite Sunshine Seafood Cafe menu items in addition to a few brand new specials.

For folks that aren't familiar, the Sunshine Seafood Cafe serves appetizers, soup, salad, sandwiches for lunch and a variety of entrees for dinner.

Appetizers include jumbo lump crab cakes, dry sea scallops and goat cheese, Blind Pass shrimp and the sunshine shrimp cocktail served with passion fruit remoulade.

Entrees include shrimp and scallop scampi, yellowfin tuna au poivre, wood grilled filet mignon, fresh Florida red snapper picatta and their world famous sunshine paella.

You can make reservations by calling 472-6200.

The Sunshine Seafood Cafe and Wine Bar is located at 14900 Captiva Drive.
