Community House gets new makeover

Kym Nader, whose new decorating business is opening this weekend in The Village Shops, has spent the summer working with the board and staff of the Sanibel Community House on a major redecorating effort. She has worked closely with Marketing Director Kimberley LaBar on reconfiguring the lobby.

Based on the need to create a better traffic flow for the business office and the lobby and the desire to make the latter a more welcoming reception area, they contacted The Hammerheads for building assistance. (The Hammerheads are a group of indefatigable retired men, many of them former contractors, who offer their talents and labor free to non-profit organizations.)

Board member Marge Meek put in a generous cash donation as seed money and Kym came up with a design idea that could be done on a small budget, volunteering all her services. Sam Bailey donated paint, and Barefoot Charlie, Southwest Insulation, and Jeff Molnar added discounted services to the mix. Billy Kirkland, Jim Freck and Judy Montclare provided free labor. (and, probably, lots of laughs.) Karen Temporiti is creating new curtains.

With new paint in the offices and the lobby, new wainscoting on the lobby walls, starfish on the restroom doors, display cabinets and bulletin boards rearranged, the place really looks nice!
