On Tuesday, AT&T announced it has upgraded three cell sites in Hendry, Glades, and Charlotte counties to high speed mobile broadband and added extra mobile broadband capacity to another 18 sites in Lee, Collier, Glades and Hendry counties.
The upgrades are part of AT&T’s continuing local network investment to support growing demand for advanced mobile devices and applications. Customers are expected to experience improved mobile broadband coverage with faster speeds and voice performance as a result of the project.
Three cell sites in Moore Haven, LaBelle and Punta Gorda have been upgraded with mobile broadband technology to provide accelerated mobile data speeds and simultaneous voice and data capabilities. The AT&T wireless network is nation’s fastest mobile broadband network.
The capacity upgrade to 18 sites is benefitting the areas of Sanibel, Alva, Cape Coral and Fort Myers in Lee County; Naples and Immokalee in Collier County; Moore Haven in Glades County; and Clewiston and LaBelle in Hendry County.
Adding extra capacity to a cell site is like widening a highway – you’re creating more lanes to accommodate increasing traffic.

If approved, this deal means that we’ll be able to expand the next generation of mobile broadband – 4G LTE – from our current plan of 80 percent of the U.S. population to more than 97 percent.”
