This year, Baileyfest will also be a tribute to the life and community contribution made by Sam Bailey, the founder of the annual fall event. As Sam said at the very first Baileyfest back in 1985, “All this is a thank you to the people in our community. We want them to have a good time.” Baileyfest has lived up to his objective ever since.
Everyone is welcome to join us for the festivities from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Bailey’s Center, located on the corner of Periwinkle Way and Tarpon Bay Road.
The family-oriented event will include lots of live entertainment, food and beverages, the crowning of Baileyfest King and Queen, mule and wagon rides, a bounce house, pony rides and many traditional games including an egg and spoon race, cornhole, hula hoop contest, tin can alley and fastest pitch.
All proceeds from Baileyfest will benefit Sanibel and Captiva non-profit organizations.
The Baileyfest stage will run from 1 p.m. and feature acts from local performers such as The Hat Boys, Big Arts Community Chorus, Kellyn Celtic Arts Irish Dance Academy, The Herb Strauss Schoolhouse Theater and more.
The BCMA was formed to develop and enhance the relationships among individual merchants and promote the Center as the prime retail resource for island customers; residents and visitors alike. The merchants who are members of the BCMA are Bailey’s General Store, Bailey’s True Value Hardware, The Grog Shop, Nick’s Place, Hillgate Communications, Island Cleaners, Island Cinema, Sanibel Barber Shop, Lily & Co. Jewelers, Sanibel Shell Automotive, Select Vacation Properties, Video Scene and Coffee Bar @ Bailey’s.
