Third annual Food and Travel Fest returning to South Seas

Join the chefs of Sanibel and Captiva for an afternoon of cooking demonstrations, wine pairing tips, a wine tasting with national distributors, and great travel deals… along with both live and silent auctions. There will be live music and bounce houses and a craft table for the kids.

The silent auction runs from 2 p.m all the way through to 5; wine and beer tastings and the famous Wine 101 course are from 2 to 3:30; samplings from Sanibel and Captivas top “Chefs in Shorts” are offered for a $10 donation from 3:30 to 5 when the silent auction closes; and the live auction is from 5:15 to 5:45.

The long list of auction items includes a Tampa Bay Rays weekend — tickets to a Rays game and a weekend at The Clearwater Hilton; private cruises for winner and friends; private chef events in winner’s SanCap residence; a private tennis lesson with Andrei Pavel, former #11 player in the world; and numerous hotel and resort stays:

South Seas Island Resort and ’Tween Waters Inn, Captiva; The Breakers Palm Beach in Palm Beach; The Boca Raton Resort & Club; The Casa Marina Resort, A Waldorf Astoria Hotel in Key West; the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina; The Bahia Mar Beach Resort & Yachting Center and The Hyatt Regency Pier 66, Fort Lauderdale; The London West Hollywood, Hollywood, Calif.; The Sundial Beach & Golf Resort, Sanibel and The Inns of Sanibel, on Sanibel Island; and The Pink Shell Beach Resort, on Fort Myers Beach.

Plus there are restaurant gift certificates, golf gift certificates, and gift baskets from local retailers and eateries.

Proceeds will benefit the initiatives of the Captiva Community Panel, which to date have included an in-depth water quality study and revisions to the land development code. Last year’s event raised $20,000.
